Malc Gibbs founded GI Fasteners way back in 1992, but through the years the business has changed from Malcolm and his trusty fax machine through to the modern day email.
Malcolm’s other passion was American cars and in particular, ex-police cars. Many people in Loughborough will remember Malc driving through town on his way to and from work or relaxing in the local McDonalds car park, enjoying his cappuccino.
He would quite happily talk for hours on the history of the cars and give anybody the time of day, letting them sit inside while firing up the lights and sirens!
As well as using the cars for day to day commuting, Malc would also use them for weddings, proms or any other occasion, if asked. Every single penny he received for doing these kind acts was given to charity. “I’m doing it because I love to see the smile on people’s faces”. was his response!

Over the years, Malc also raised thousands of pounds for charity, donating vital funds to worthy causes such as Cancer Research, The British Hear Foundation, the NHS and many other local charities.

Malcolm was sadly taken from us after a short illness in 2018, He will always be remembered for his love of cars and taking them to shows, such as the Loughborough town centre car show which was usually held on Father’s Day.
GI Fasteners was always a family business and has continued to be so and we look forward to carrying on his name in the future GIBBS INDUSTRIAL FASTENERS, or just “Gibbs” or “Malc’s Place” as referred to by some of the longer standing regulars still!
RIP Malcolm (Malc) Gibbs, never forgotten.
